Rivers United came from behind to draw 1-1 at Nasarawa United, with Musa Yakubu converting a penalty seven minutes from time in Lafia.
Nasarawa United and Rivers United shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Lafia on Sunday, September 20, 2026, with a late penalty from Musa Yakubu cancelling out an own goal that had put the hosts ahead.
Nasarawa United took the lead in the 66th minute through an own goal by Rivers United’s Harrison Ebah, putting the hosts in front for much of the second half. Rivers United drew level in the 84th minute when Musa Yakubu converted from the penalty spot, securing a point for the visitors in the closing stages.
Both sides will have mixed feelings about the outcome. Nasarawa United, who also had a rescheduled Matchday 3 fixture against Rangers earlier in the month, will be disappointed not to hold on for the win after leading for much of the second half. Rivers United, meanwhile, will take encouragement from their late resilience in securing a point away from home, adding to a campaign in which they are also balancing continental commitments in the CAF Champions League.
