Editorial Policy
NigerianMatchday is committed to producing accurate, trustworthy, and useful content for Nigerian football fans and sports bettors. This Editorial Policy explains how we research, write, review, and update our content.
Last updated: 16 May 2026
Our Mission
To be Nigeria’s most reliable and honest source of football news, NPFL coverage, and sports betting information — produced by people who understand the Nigerian market from the ground up.
Content Types and Standards
Bookmaker Reviews
Our bookmaker reviews are based on direct research into each operator’s Nigerian offering. We assess: NLRC licensing or international regulatory status, deposit and withdrawal methods available to Nigerian users (OPay, PalmPay, USSD, bank transfer), welcome bonus terms and wagering requirements, mobile app quality and availability, customer support responsiveness, and real user reports of common issues (withdrawal delays, account verification, etc.).
We disclose all affiliate relationships clearly. Earning a commission does not affect our ratings or editorial opinion — we have declined to recommend operators that do not meet our standards regardless of affiliate arrangements.
Betting Tips and Predictions
Our betting tips are research-based analysis, not guarantees of outcome. We apply the following methodology: current form (last 5 results), head-to-head record, team news and suspensions, odds value assessment across major Nigerian bookmakers (Bet9ja, SportyBet, BetKing), and contextual factors (home/away advantage, importance of match, weather where relevant).
We always include a responsible gambling reminder with tips content. We never use language that implies certainty (“guaranteed win”, “banker bet” framing) — we use language like “we favour”, “the form suggests”, “looks strong value”.
NPFL and Football News
Our football news and match preview content is sourced from official club and league communications (npfl.ng), reputable sports news sources, and direct research. We credit sources appropriately and correct errors promptly when identified.
Betting Guides
Our betting strategy and education guides are written to help Nigerian bettors understand concepts clearly and apply them responsibly. We do not promote chasing losses, reckless staking, or addiction-enabling behaviour. All guides include responsible gambling messaging.
Accuracy and Corrections
We make every effort to ensure our content is accurate at time of publication. Sports betting terms, odds, USSD codes, app versions, and bonus offers can change without notice. We review and update key guides regularly.
If you spot an error, please contact us at admin@nigerianmatchday.com with the subject “Content Correction”. We investigate all reported errors and correct verified mistakes promptly, noting the correction at the bottom of the relevant article.
Affiliate Disclosure
NigerianMatchday participates in affiliate marketing programmes. We may receive a commission when a reader registers with a bookmaker via a link on our site. This income supports the running of the site and allows us to produce free content. It does not affect our editorial independence — our reviews, ratings, and recommendations reflect our genuine assessment of each operator’s suitability for Nigerian users.
Responsible Gambling Commitment
NigerianMatchday is committed to responsible gambling. All betting content is for adults aged 18 and over. We include responsible gambling messaging on all tips and guide content. We support organisations including BeGambleAware and Gambling Therapy.
