Nigerian Matchday Editorial is the byline on every article on NigerianMatchday. It is our in-house team, built by Nigerian football fans for Nigerian football fans, that researches, writes, checks and updates the site’s news, match previews, bookmaker guides and betting tips.
What does the Nigerian Matchday editorial team cover?
The team covers the football and betting topics that matter most to Nigerian fans and bettors:
- NPFL: match reports, previews, the NPFL table and fixtures and a profile of every club in our Team Hub.
- Super Eagles: squad news, injury updates and previews of every international match, with dates on our Super Eagles fixtures page.
- Premier League and Champions League: previews and Premier League predictions, with a focus on Nigerian players abroad.

How is each article researched and checked?
Every article starts from official sources where they exist: the NPFL, the Nigeria Football Federation, CAF, FIFA and the clubs themselves, backed up by major international outlets. We link to the source next to the claim it supports, and we report transfer rumours as unconfirmed until a club or player makes it official.
We use AI tools to help with research and first drafts. Every piece is then checked against our editorial standards before it is published, and checked again once it is live: facts and dates, sourcing, headings, links and structured data. When news changes, such as an injury or a squad update, we update the article and its date.
How are our betting tips and predictions made?
The picks on our tips and prediction pages come from NigerianMatchday’s AI prediction model, which weighs recent form, home advantage and bookmaker odds, then gives each match one pick and a confidence score. Match previews add the editorial team’s own analysis of team news and form.
We publish our record openly. Every NPFL and Premier League pick is logged before kick-off and marked right or wrong afterwards on our AI prediction tracker. Tips are analysis, never guarantees, and we never use “sure win” or “banker” language.
Does NigerianMatchday make money from bookmakers?
Yes. We may earn a commission when a reader signs up with a bookmaker through our links, which is how we keep the site free. This never decides our ratings or opinions, and we only recommend bookmakers that are licensed in Nigeria or internationally reputable.
