Enyimba’s difficult start to the 2026/27 NPFL season continued as newly promoted Inter Lagos won 1-0 in Aba through an early Ezekiel Moses goal.
Enyimba’s winless start to the 2026/27 NPFL season continued on Sunday, September 20, 2026, as newly promoted Inter Lagos won 1-0 at the Enyimba International Stadium. Ezekiel Moses scored the only goal of the game, rising to meet a pinpoint cross with a header in the 18th minute.
Moses’s early header proved decisive, and Inter Lagos held firm for the remainder of the match to secure a first NPFL win of their return to the top flight. Enyimba pushed for an equaliser on home soil but could not find a way through, extending their run without a league victory to four matches.
Enyimba, nine-time Nigerian league champions, remain without a win after four rounds of the new season, having also lost to Niger Tornadoes on Matchday 1 and to Doma United before this defeat. The result increases pressure on the Aba giants to respond quickly, with a home fixture against Sporting Lagos on September 23 offering the next opportunity to open their account.
For Inter Lagos, the away win is an important early marker as they look to establish themselves after promotion, following it up with a home game against Enyimba’s Matchday 5 opponents Sporting Lagos still to come later in September.
