It was a setback on the road for Bendel Insurance, who had come into the round in good form. They recovered quickly: in midweek (Matchday 5) they came from 1-1 to beat Ikorodu City 2-1 in Benin, with Chinedu Nwosu scoring a 49th-minute penalty and Alex Oweilayefa grabbing an 84th-minute winner. That lifted them into the top four. The Bendel Insurance team hub has the club’s full history.
The three points took Ranchers Bees to six points from four games, a solid return for a promoted side. They lost 1-0 away to Enugu Rangers in midweek, when Chidozie Iwundu scored in the 80th minute, and sit in mid-table after Matchday 5.
