The Premier League 2026/27 dates Nigerian fans need to know: three international breaks, the 10 October return, festive fixtures, WAT kick-off times and final day.

The 2026/27 Premier League season runs from Friday 21 August 2026 to Sunday 30 May 2027. This guide covers the dates Nigerian fans need to know, from the three international breaks and the festive fixtures to final day, with kick-off times converted to WAT.
The season started on Friday 21 August 2026 with Arsenal 3-0 Coventry City. It ends on Sunday 30 May 2027, when all ten final-day matches kick off at the same time.
In between, the Premier League has scheduled 33 weekend rounds and five midweek rounds. Every result from the opening round is in our Premier League Matchday 1 results, and the live standings are on the Premier League 2026/27 table and fixtures page.
There are three. The September and October breaks have been merged into one 16-day window, so the league is paused right now and returns with Matchweek 6 on 10 October.
| International break | Dates | Premier League rounds either side |
|---|---|---|
| September-October | 21 September – 6 October 2026 | After Matchweek 5; Matchweek 6 on 10 October |
| November | 9-17 November 2026 | Between Matchweeks 10 and 11 |
| March | 22-30 March 2027 | Between Matchweeks 30 and 31 |
For Nigerian fans, the breaks are Super Eagles time. The current window includes the AFCON 2027 qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, which are covered on our Super Eagles fixtures page. The dates above are from the Premier League’s official announcement.
From August until 25 October 2026, UK time and Nigerian time are the same. A 3pm UK kick-off is 3pm WAT. When the UK clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, Nigeria is one hour ahead, so a 3pm UK kick-off becomes 4pm WAT.
The UK clocks go forward again on Sunday 28 March 2027. From then until the end of the season, UK and Nigerian times match again. The usual Saturday slots are 12:30pm, 3pm and 5:30pm UK time. That puts most games in the Nigerian afternoon or evening.
The festive period, the January transfer window and final day are the other dates to plan around.
Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey at Fulham, Frank Onyeka and Taiwo Awoniyi at Coventry, and Semi Ajayi at promoted Hull City are the key names. Ajayi scored on the opening weekend against Manchester United.
