Is BetWinner legit in Nigeria? The Lagos regulator’s register lists it as licensed. However, we could not confirm a current federal licence, or an offshore licence for the Nigerian site. This guide sets out what we checked on 9 October 2026, what we could not confirm, and how to run the check yourself.

Is BetWinner legit in Nigeria?

BetWinner is listed as a licensed operator on the register of the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA), and it is not on the illegal operators list. The register names Advanced Hospitality Limited, trading as Betwinner, with a start date of 7 June 2026. The end date is printed as 6 April 2027. That is shorter than the one-year term the LSLGA states for sports betting licences, so it may be a typo. Check the register for the exact date.

Lagos once took a harder line. In May 2020 the Lagos State Lottery Board blacklisted BetWinner and nine other operators, but the NLRC said they held federal licences, according to iGaming Business. BetWinner now appears on the LSLGA licensed list. Still, a register entry shows that a licence exists. It does not show how a company treats its players, so read on. This guide is not legal advice.

Does BetWinner hold an NLRC licence?

BetWinner was reported to hold an NLRC sports betting permit in 2020, but we could not confirm that it is current. iGaming Business reported on 21 February 2020 that the NLRC granted sports betting licences to BetWinner and one other operator. The NLRC site also carries a notice naming a company called Advance Hospitality Ltd. Neither source gives an end date.

An NLRC statement in October 2023 named 19 cleared operators and did not include BetWinner. That is not proof either way. The NLRC’s own list of licensed operators would not load when we tried, so we cannot call BetWinner NLRC licensed today.

Does BetWinner have an offshore licence?

A Curaçao certificate has been reported for the BetWinner brand, but we could not confirm that it covers the Nigerian site. An earlier check found a Curaçao Gaming Authority certificate for a company called Prevailer B.V. It listed betwinner.com but not betwinner.ng. The certificate page would not open again on 9 October, so we do not rely on it.

If you play on a .com or mirror address, ask which domain your licence covers. We make no claim about a Curaçao licence here.

What do reviews say about BetWinner?

Reviews are poor: BetWinner’s Trustpilot page shows a TrustScore of 1.2 out of 5 from about 720 reviews, and 92% give one star. Complaints cover blocked or unpaid withdrawals, limits placed on accounts after wins, and repeated ID checks. These are unverified user reviews and are not specific to Nigeria.

The page says the company replies to most negative reviews, but usually takes over a month. We found no regulator or court action against BetWinner abroad. However, that only means we did not find any.

What does the BetWinner welcome bonus include?

Our review lists a 200% first-deposit match up to ₦100,000, with a ₦400 minimum deposit for the sports bonus. BetWinner’s own bonus pages did not load for us, so we cannot confirm the cap, the wagering or the expiry. The current promotion may also differ from this figure. Read the terms on the BetWinner site before you pay in, and screenshot the offer you accept. Our BetWinner welcome bonus guide and promo code page have more.

How can you check if a bookmaker is licensed?

Search the LSLGA register by trade name and company, then check the end date and the illegal operators list. First, open the register and find both names. Then read the category and the end date, because an expired licence means the operator cannot currently offer that service in Lagos. Next, check the illegal operators list. The LSLGA also publishes its own guide to checking an operator.

Finally, ask support which company holds the licence and which website it covers. For background, see how the NLRC licence works and NLRC vs state lottery boards. We ran the same check on two rivals, so read is 1xBet legal in Nigeria and is 22Bet legit in Nigeria. You can also compare the two brands in BetWinner vs 1xBet.
