Abdullahi Musa, Rabiu Ali, Ahmed Musa and Nasiru Salihu were all on the scoresheet as the hosts overturned the division’s early pace-setters.
Abdullahi Musa opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali doubled the lead seven minutes later to put Kano Pillars firmly in control. Doma United pulled one back through Sadiq Rilwan in the 53rd minute, briefly threatening a way back into the contest, but Kano Pillars responded emphatically. Ahmed Musa restored the two-goal cushion in the 77th minute before Nasiru Salihu completed the scoring in the 90th minute to make it 4-1.
Doma United had arrived in Kano off the back of three straight wins — over Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos and Enyimba — and three consecutive clean sheets, making them one of the surprise packages of the early campaign. That run, and their unbeaten record, ended in emphatic fashion against a Kano Pillars side that produced its most complete display of the season so far at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
For Kano Pillars, the result is a statement result against the division’s form team, and a reminder of the attacking threat they can carry at home. Doma United’s next assignment is against Plateau United on September 23, a quick chance to respond after their first defeat of the campaign.
