The marquee match of the day. Scotland, at their first World Cup since 1998, enter this game knowing that a draw may not be enough to guarantee progress. They sit third in the group on goal difference with three points, and must beat Brazil to be certain of their place in the knockout rounds. Brazil need only a point to secure top spot. That dynamic — Scotland needing to attack, Brazil comfortable to sit — should make for an interesting tactical contest.
Brazil have looked dangerous without being imperious. Vinícius Júnior has scored in both games and will terrorise Scotland’s defensive left side. Raphinha, however, is out with a hamstring injury which removes a key creative option. Scotland beat Haiti and lost narrowly to Morocco in what has been a creditable campaign for Steve Clarke’s side. Morocco have been one of the most impressive sides of the group stage. The Atlas Lions sit on four points after wins over Scotland and a draw with Brazil, and they face a Haiti side that has already been mathematically eliminated. Walid Regragui’s men will prioritise keeping it tight and managing the game rather than going for goals — a win of any margin confirms them in the top two of Group C.
Haiti deserve credit for their spirit but have been overwhelmed by the quality gap against both Brazil and Morocco. Expect Morocco to be professional and patient. They sit on one point after drawing one and losing one, while South Korea have three points from a win over Czechia and need only a draw to confirm their qualification. The Taegeuk Warriors should have one eye on the knockout stage and will defend their position; Bafana Bafana need to go for broke.
South Africa stunned many observers by qualifying for this tournament and they have quality — Percy Tau and Themba Zwane can cause problems.
