Abia Warriors twice fought back from behind, with Emeka Obioma’s 83rd-minute leveller securing a 2-2 draw against Ikorodu City in an entertaining NPFL Matchday 3 clash.
Abia Warriors twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw against Ikorodu City in an entertaining NPFL Matchday 3 fixture played on Sunday, September 13, 2026, with Emeka Obioma’s second goal of the afternoon rescuing a point deep into the second half.
Obioma opened the scoring for the home side in the 15th minute, but Ikorodu City hit back through Ilechukwu Junior just seven minutes later. Akorede Adeoye then put the visitors ahead in the 31st minute, and it looked like Ikorodu City would leave with all three points until Obioma struck again in the 83rd minute to complete his brace and level the match.
Abia Warriors made the perfect start at home, with Obioma finishing early to send the crowd into raptures. Ikorodu City responded almost immediately, drawing level inside a frantic opening half-hour before Adeoye’s finish turned the game on its head and put the visitors in front.
With time running out and Ikorodu City closing in on an important away win, Obioma popped up again in the 83rd minute to complete his brace and snatch a share of the spoils for Abia Warriors, sparking wild scenes at the final whistle.
For Abia Warriors, a point against an Ikorodu City side that started the season strongly is a welcome result after a difficult opening to the campaign, and Obioma’s brace will give the home crowd plenty to be encouraged by heading into Matchday 4.
Ikorodu City will have mixed feelings — twice in front away from home, they could not hold on for what would have been a statement win, but a draw on the road still adds to a solid points return from their opening matches this season.
