Player Spotlight: Samuel Chukwueze and Mohamed Salah

Today’s player spotlights shine a light on some of football’s most exciting talents. Here’s everything you need to know.

Samuel Chukwueze

Chukwueze’s future in limbo as Fulham baulk at €26m fee demand from AC Milan

AC Milan (on loan at Fulham) | Winger | Nigerian

Key stat: The 27-year-old scored 7 goals and registered 5 assists during his loan spell at Fulham in the 2025/26 Premier League season

Samuel Chukwueze impressed enough during his loan spell at Fulham to convince manager Marco Silva’s staff of his quality, but the English club have refused to meet AC Milan’s €26 million asking price for a permanent transfer.

With new AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim reportedly assessing the squad, Chukwueze’s future at the San Siro also looks uncertain.

Several Premier League clubs including Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and West Ham have been linked as alternative destinations for the Nigerian winger.

“Samuel has shown what he can do in the Premier League — we would love to keep him but the numbers have to make sense. — Marco Silva, Fulham Manager”

— Samuel Chukwueze

Mohamed Salah

Salah leads Egypt at his second World Cup — already the top-scoring African in World Cup qualifying history

Liverpool / Egypt | Right Winger | Egyptian

Key stat: Salah has scored 20 goals in FIFA World Cup qualifying for Egypt, more than any other African player in history, surpassing Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o (both 18)

The 34-year-old Liverpool icon arrives at the 2026 World Cup as arguably Africa’s most celebrated player, carrying Egypt’s hopes in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran and New Zealand.

Salah was instrumental in Egypt’s qualification, scoring twice in the decisive 3-0 win over Djibouti.

With 67 international goals in 115 caps, the Egyptian King is widely expected to deliver at this World Cup — quite possibly his last.

“I want to make history with Egypt. The World Cup is the biggest stage and I am ready. — Mohamed Salah”

— Mohamed Salah
