While Rangers celebrated, four clubs faced the drop. Wikki Tourists finished bottom — their return to the NPFL ended in relegation after a season they could never quite gain traction. Bayelsa United (19th) and Kun Khalifat (18th) also went down. Warri Wolves and Kwara United survived but spent most of the season looking over their shoulders.
The relegated clubs will rebuild in the National League. For some, a single season away and a strong promotion campaign will see them return. For others, the structural issues that caused their relegation will take longer to resolve.
The surviving clubs at the lower end — Remo Stars (16th), Niger Tornadoes (14th), Enyimba (13th) — will look at the table and know they need significant improvement to be competitive in 2026-27. Remo Stars in particular, as the previous champions, face a serious rebuild.
