Were Our Football Predictions Right This Week? June 22–28, 2026

How Accurate Were Our Football Predictions This Week?

The 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage delivered one of the most dramatic weeks in recent football history — and our prediction record reflects that. Brazil demolished Scotland, Portugal thrashed Uzbekistan, and the goals kept flying. But Norway’s extraordinary 4-1 destruction of France and Ghana’s heartbreaking exit at the hands of Croatia reminded us that this tournament refuses to follow the script. Here is how eight of our key tips from June 22–28 fared against the actual results.

Best Call of the Week

Brazil to Win vs Scotland at ~1.45 was the pick of the week. Before kick-off, there was legitimate noise around Scotland — they had beaten Haiti and pushed Morocco, and there was a section of the football community wondering if they could frustrate a Brazil side that sometimes struggles to click against organised defences. We were not buying it. Vinícius Júnior had scored in both Brazil group games going into that match, and Scotland’s attacking ambition to chase the game left them wide open on the counter. Brazil won 3–0. No drama, no nerves. Exactly as the form said it should go.

The One That Got Away

France vs Norway was supposed to be a routine pick. France had scored three goals in each of their first two group games, Mbappé was in form, and their defensive structure under Deschamps had been solid. At 1.67, it felt like reliable value. Instead, Norway — with Erling Haaland operating at a different level to anyone else in Group I — put four goals past France without reply after France scored first. It finished 4–1. Haaland and his teammates turned a well-reasoned pick into a lesson about what happens when you back the wrong team against a player in the form of his life. If we could go back, the Norway tip was there in the data — Haaland’s underlying numbers at this tournament were extraordinary. We left value on the table.

What This Means for Your Betting

A 50% strike rate on an eight-tip review in the most unpredictable World Cup group stage in years is not a disaster — but it is honest. The clearest pattern from this week: short-priced favourites in big matches can be dangerous when the opposition has nothing to lose. England’s 0–0 draw with Ghana and Norway’s demolition of France both happened against teams who came out swinging for the knockout stages. This Week’s Outlook

The Round of 32 begins this week, and the matchups are already extraordinary. Argentina, Brazil, Morocco and England are all in action, and the stakes climb sharply from here — knockout football changes the risk profile of every bet. If you are building accumulators this week, the key word is discipline: fewer legs, stronger selections, better value. Get ahead of the week with today’s football betting tips updated every morning — and we will be back next Sunday to hold ourselves to account again.
