The World Cup’s All-Time Goal King
Did you know? Germany’s Miroslav Klose is still the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history with 16 goals.
Klose set the record across four tournaments between 2002 and 2014, edging out Brazil’s Ronaldo on 15.
The 2026 tournament, the first ever to feature 48 teams, gave a new generation of forwards a chance to chase him down, but nobody has yet come close to matching his tally.
Among current stars, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe remain the closest active challengers, still several goals short.

The Match That Started It All In Nigeria
Did you know? Nigeria’s very first football match was played in Calabar on 15 June 1904.
A team from the Hope Waddell Training Institution beat a side of sailors from the British gunboat HMS Thistle 3-2 in what is recognised as the first game of football played on Nigerian soil.
The result helped spark the formation of clubs across the country in the years that followed, laying the foundation for a football culture that would eventually produce the Super Eagles.
The Nigeria Football Federation itself would not be formed for another four decades, in 1945.
