Club history
Warri Wolves FC, from Warri in Delta State, trace their modern roots to Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA FC) before being rebranded as Warri Wolves after a 2007 move back to Delta. Historically, the Warri area already had a strong football culture through the old “Warri XI” side, whose nickname Wolves inspired the present club. Warri Wolves gained promotion to the Premier League in 2009 and soon became one of the NPFL’s better‑run teams, regularly finishing in the top half. They made their continental debut in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2010 and returned to Africa in subsequent seasons, reaching the latter qualifying rounds. Known for producing and attracting talented players, the club has seen several stars move on to Europe and the Super Eagles. Though relegation has hit at times, Wolves remain a recognised Delta brand determined to stabilise again in the NPFL.
