Club history

Ikorodu City FC represent Lagos’ ever‑growing football scene and are part of the new wave of privately run NPFL clubs. Based in the Ikorodu axis, the club were formed in the 2010s with a clear vision: provide a professional pathway for young players from Lagos’ grassroots. They rose through the lower leagues with a reputation for energetic, attacking football and strong community engagement. Promotion to the NPFL marked a major milestone, making Ikorodu City a fresh Lagos presence at the highest level alongside the state’s historic clubs. While still in the early chapters of their story, the club are investing in coaching, sports science and academy structures to ensure survival and gradual progress up the table. Ikorodu City’s entry into the NPFL also adds new Lagos derbies and strengthens the league’s commercial appeal in Nigeria’s biggest city.
